Solages calls for safer traffic control

State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages (DElmont) is advocating for better traffic control at the Elmont Road Post Office. A high volume of car traffic and heavy pedestrian foot traffic creates dangerous situations on this busy roadway. In order to cross the street, pedestrians are left to their own judgment to determine when to cross the street.

“The safety of constituents is one of my utmost priority. A simple traffic light would help to alleviate strenuous situations at this location,” said Assemblywoman Solages.

Solages’ petition has garnered much support from community members. Many citizens are alarmed by the lack of an efficient traffic signal, and are appalled that nothing has been done yet to address this issue.

More than 150 people signed a petition to support the placement of a traffic control measure, such as a traffic light. Anyone who wishes to sign the petition can visit Solages’ Assembly webpage, and click on the ‘A Traffic Light for Elmont Road Post Office’ banner. After clicking the banner, a visitor will be directed to the letter to the Nassau County Commissioner of Public Works.
