1000 Miles team raises $3,000 to fight cancer

Students and families from the Hewlett-Woodmere community took part in the “Strides Against Cancer Walk” held at Jones Beach State Park on Oct. 20.

The “1000 Miles Live-Laugh-Love” team established five years ago by Hewlett resident Eliane Netto-Rosen, her husband, Lee, Hewlett High School students, including their son Josh, and Audrey Rubino, Jennifer Cordello, Jody Lyons, Tony and Barbara Borden and Kelly McMahon, along with their sons, Michael, Antonio, Richard, Luke and Wyatt, respectively, along with Hewlett cheerleaders, the girls’ swim team, varsity football and basketball players and coaches raised nearly $3,000, which was part of the $3 million collected by other participants that will benefit the American Cancer Society.
