St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated at Bridie O’s bar and grill on Central Ave in Lawrence on March 17.
The day is named for St. Patrick, the best known of the patron saints of Ireland. It commemorates St. Patrick and the arrival of Christianity to the Emerald Isle. The day became an official feast day in the early 17th century.
Public parades such as the famous New York City march up Fifth Avenue, festivals and wearing green attire are huge parts of the day that celebrates everything Irish.
