A former high-ranking officer of Israel’s elite counter-terrorism unit YAMAN spoke to a gathering at the Chabad of Hewlett on Jan. 7, that also heard from Assemblyman Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Beach) who visited the Jewish state in December.
Established in 1974, YAMAN is one of four special units under the umbrella of the Israel Border Police. Members conduct hostage-rescue operations and offensive take-over raids against targets in civilian areas. In addition to military duties, the unit perform SWAT responsibilities and undercover police work.
Kaminsky emphasized how vital it is to support Israel. “I’m glad I was able to share my experiences from my recent trip to Israel,” Kaminsky told the Chabad audience.
