Honoring Jacob, raising money for Sandy victims
Monica Rzewski/Herald
Jacob Haden Greenberg’s memory was celebrated by the spirited play demonstrated by the alumni basketball players.

Eight years ago, the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) student, star athlete and friend Jacob Haden Greenberg died. Greenberg is remembered as a person who lived life to the fullest and strived for excellence in everything he did. He had an exuberant personality and a charming presence.

An alumni basketball game in the school’s new sports complex game that matched the 2004-07 Hawks against the 2008-11 players on April 14 celebrated his memory.

The $1,700 raised will be donated to HAFTRCares Committee to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims. Raffle prizes included four tickets to a Yankees game and a gift cad to Ahuva’s Grill in Hewlett.
