Two new municipal parking meters will be installed by the Village of Lawrence; one behind Amazing Savings variety store on Central Avenue and another behind Seasons grocery on the opposite side of the street.

Village trustees unanimously approved the installation of the muni-meters at a board meeting on Aug. 5. Approximately $7,000 per month is expected to be generated, village officials said.

Voorhies, New Jersey-based parking kiosk company DEVO and Associates submitted the winning bid. The company’s Parkeon brand meters, which have been installed in nearby Huntington, will cost $65,548. The purchase will include a 15-month warranty. When that expires the village will pay $5,900 in annual maintenance costs to DEVO and $4,100 yearly for the software, village officials said.

The system works with credit card, coins, bills and with a smartphone. The meters are expected to be installed in about 10 weeks.
