A construction truck belonging to a Lawrence homeowner and contractor caught fire and spread to his house at 200 Randall Ave. at approximately 5:26 a.m. on July 10, fire officials said.

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department responded and found the truck’s engine area ablaze. It then spread to the home and gas was burning down the driveway.

Two people were home at the time and were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported, according to LCFD Chief John McHugh, who estimated that about $25,000 worth of damage to the home was caused by the fire. “The fire is being investigated, but it is not suspicious,” he said.

Firefighters from departments in Hewlett, Inwood and Woodmere also responded to the fire.
