Theatergoers will see a dedicated group of performers who are eager to share this dramatic story and music. “The cast is top-notch with incredible singers who are dedicated performers,” said Caruana. “It is exciting for audiences to be able to see great opera locally and to see home-grown talent perform. “Joy is so passionate about opera and cultivating local talent.” She has touched Long Islanders who are opera lovers and has continued to strengthen the goal of bring quality opera to Long Islanders by Long Islanders.” In addition to Berta’s executive director and current directorial responsibilities, Berta – being the dynamo that she is – also plans to perform in some of LIO’s upcoming productions. “I fell in love with opera at age 13,” she said. “I love to perform. In my heart I am an opera singer and want to share that passion with our audiences.”
Those interested in becoming a member of Long Island Opera and joining Berta’s “opera movement,” will find membership details, along with ticket and donation information, on LIO’s website, www.longislandopera.org.
