Marchers in high spirits for Hewlett's Homecoming parade

The weather for this year’s Hewlett Homecoming parade was much better than last year, when the parade was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Under partly sunny skies, the Homecoming parade began at Hewlett Elementary School led by district administrators and Board of Education members on Sept. 29.

Marchers, which included twirlers, cheerleaders and students representing senior, juniors, sophomores and freshmen proceeded down Broadway and turned onto East Rockaway Avenue and ended the parade at the high school campus.

However, despite playing hard, the Hewlett Bulldog varsity football team lost its first game of the season, 35-14 to the Plainedge Red Devils (4-0) in a Conference III match up. The Bulldogs are now 3-1.
