A very ‘Tasteful’ event

Posted

It isn’t often enjoying a meal and helping the community are activities done simultaneously, yet the Peninsula Counseling Center’s “A Tasteful Evening” did just that.

Nearly 50 restaurants, bakeries, caterers and wineries participated in “A Tasteful Evening” at the Woodmere Country Club on Oct. 19 to give local residents a taste of southwest Nassau County. Each business brought samples from their menus which were available for all in attendance.

“A Tasteful Evening,” which first took place in 2004, is Peninsula Counseling Center’s major fundraiser. The money raised at the annual event went toward various programs at the PCC, the largest non-profit outpatient mental health facility in Nassau County.

Along with the large variety of food offered at the event, there was also a silent auction, a Judith Ripka jewelry auction and a dozen raffle prizes worth $1,000 each. Some of the prizes included gift cards, a flat-screen television and a Macintosh computer.
