Boy struck by car in Woodmere

10-year-old listed in serious condition

A 10-year-old boy who was trying to cross West Broadway at Franklin Avenue in Woodmere was hit by a 2015 Lexus and was knocked into the eastbound lane at 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 5, according to police.

The boy suffered multiple trauma injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he was admitted and listed in serious condition, police said.

Police have deemed this a “non-criminal accident” and the investigation is continuing.

In March, a woman, 39, driving a 2015 Infiniti heading south on Barnard Avenue in Woodmere struck a 6-year-old girl who was crossing the street at Barnard Avenue near Poe Street, police said.

The girl suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, according to police. Hatzalah Ambulance Corps, a volunteer unit, responded to the scene.

Brake and safety checks were performed at the scene. The accident was deemed to be a non-criminal incident, police said.
