Fourth Squad detectives arrested Charles Creekmur, 24, of Jefferson Avenue in Brooklyn, for an alleged attempted robbery in Cedarhurst on July 12 at 6:15 p.m.

Creekmur, according to police, was armed with a BB gun and wore a black ski mask when he approached a 59-year-old man outside of 344 Central Ave. and demanded money.

However, without getting the money he wanted, Creekmur fled the scene on foot and into a rear parking lot, where he disposed of his jacket, ski mask and the BB gun, police said. Not to long after that police apprehended him inside a nearby grocery store. Creekmur was a former employee of his intended victim, police said.

Creekmur was charged with attempted robbery-second degree and possession of a dangerous weapon. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
