A woman driving a Jaguar northbound on the Nassau Expressway north of Burnside Avenue in Lawrence apparently lost control of the car and veered off the road, then struck a light pole, crashed through a chain link fence and stopped after hitting a large Caterpillar crane at John P. Picone, Inc., a construction rental business at 31 Garden Lane in Lawrence on Tuesday at 11 p.m., officials said.

The woman, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, according authorities on the scene, had to be extricated from the car. She was taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway by Nassau County police ambulance.

Until emergency crews removed the vehicle, Expressway’s northbound side was closed to traffic for an hour.
