Mostly Cloudy Car hits utility pole in Lawrence

A single car collision involving a mini-van occurred at the intersection of Broadway and Herrick Drive in Lawrence at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. The driver of the vehicle, who was the lone occupant, hit a utility pole and was trapped in the automobile for 24 minutes while members of the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department used the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the heavily pinned man. Broadway was closed in both directions for more than two hours while the police held the scene secure for an investigation.
