Car struck by train at Hewlett station

Motorist not seriously injured

A Long Island Rail Road train hit a car at the West Broadway crossing in Hewlett on the Far Rockaway branch at 4:30 p.m. on May 8, LIRR officials said.

The driver was not seriously hurt.

The West Broadway crossing is the first east of the Gibson station.

Shortly after the accident, partial service was restored with priority given to trains heading east, LIRR officials said.
