A Nassau County jury convicted Brooklyn resident Anthony Jackson, 24 for his role in the botched robbery, kidnapping and shooting death of Tristan Theodore, 20, of Woodmere that occurred on June 15 of last year.

Jackson was convicted of murder-second degree, kidnapping- first and second degree, three counts of robbery-first degree, two counts of robbery-second degree, three counts of burglary-first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon-second degree and burglary-second degree. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison. Jackson is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 27.

At 1:45 a.m. on June 15, Theodore and a friend arrived at Theodore’s home in Woodmere, when Jackson and Edward Williams, 30, of Brooklyn, accosted them in the driveway. Jackson and Williams forced both men into the house and into the basement, where Theodore and friend were bound with duct tape and told to surrender their cash and valuables.

After taking the men’s cash, cell phones and car keys, along with a PlayStation game console, Jackson and Williams forced the men into Theodore’s car. Theodore’s friend jumped from the moving car safely, but Williams shot Theodore in the back, when he escaped from the vehicle a short time later.

Theodore ran through several backyards, but eventually collapsed on a back porch of a house. He was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, where he died. Williams was convicted of murder-first degree and other charges in July. He is awaiting sentencing.

“Anthony Jackson was as much a part of this terrible crime as the man who shot Tristan Theodore in the back,” said Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice. “This attack left a promising young man dead, a family shattered, and a community forever altered by senseless violence.”
