Crooning through the holidays

The Five Towns-based United Choral Society staged their winter concert at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library in Hewlett last Sunday. The 72-year-old singing group sang composer Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and Hanukkah and Christmas songs.
In addition to the Five Towns, choral members come other Long Island communities, Rockaway, other parts of Queens and Brooklyn. The original name was the United Temple Chorus. It was changed to the United Choral Society in 1964 to emphasize the community-oriented nature of the chorus.
