Five Towns Early Learning Center in Inwood held an anniversary party at its Wahl Street campus to commemorate its 75th year on May 17. Begun as a day care center for women who worked in place of men during World War II, it is now an accredited school for children from 18 months to 5 and half years.
Supported by Five Towns Community Chest, Five Towns and Peninsula Kiwanis groups, the National Council of Jewish Women — Peninsula Section and the Town of Hempstead, the center bases its instruction on a curriculum that uses play to teach children development skills that are the foundation of education.
