Elon for Ilan

Actor and comedian Elon Gold entertained a crowd of 350 at Temple Israel in Lawrence at a fundraiser for the Ilan Tocker Foundation that raised $63,000 on Dec. 8., the first night of Hanukkah.

The Foundation helps to pay the $40,000 monthly medical cost of rehabilitation for Ilan Tocker, a 32-year-old father of four, who fainted on a marble floor this past summer and cracked his skull.

After undergoing two emergency brain surgeries and doctors giving him less than a 10 percent chance of survival, Tocker is considered a medical marvel and through extensive rehab can speak in full sentences, walk with nominal help from therapists and has displayed problem-solving skills through card games. But, he still has a long way to go to fulfill his goal of a complete recovery.
