Far Rockaway man caught with stolen Lawrence car in Cedarhurst

After a foot chase in Cedarhurst, police arrested Jonathan Kennedy, 25, of Bayswater Avenue, Far Rockaway on June 23 at 4:50 a.m., for allegedly stealing a car earlier in the month and having other assorted stolen property.

When police saw Kennedy, who was driving a 2008 Honda westbound on West Broadway near Prospect Avenue, committing several traffic violations they stopped him, police said. Kennedy then fled the scene on foot. Following a brief chase he was apprehended on Prospect Avenue.

The car Kennedy was driving was reported stolen from a Lawrence home on June 11. He also had a backpack that contained numerous stolen items, including electronics, credit cards and wallets, according to police.

He was charged with five counts of criminal possession of stolen property and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Kennedy was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
