Fire commissioner voting on Tuesday

Woodmere district has contested race

Voting for fire commissioners in the Five Towns fire districts is being conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 10. All terms are five years and begin on Jan. 1, 2014.

Incumbent Woodmere Fire Commissioner David Stern is being challenged by Stuart Bodner. Voting is from 6 to 9 p.m. at the firehouse at 20 Irving Place in Woodmere.

Sitting commissioner Paul Breslin is unopposed in the Hewlett Bay district. Voters can cast ballots from 5 to 9 p.m. at the firehouse at 25 Franklin Ave. in Hewlett.

Also running unchallenged is incumbent Inwood Commissioner George Miller. Voting is at the firehouse at 188 Doughty Blvd. from 6 to 9 p.m.

Atlantic Beach Fire Rescue Commissioner Steve Cherson is unopposed, too. Voting is between 6 and 9 p.m. at Atlantic Beach Fire Rescue Headquarters at One Rescue Road in Atlantic Beach.

LCFD

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department held its elections on Dec. 3. The department, which is contracted by the villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst and the North Lawrence and East Lawrence fire districts, holds private elections.

Two commissioner positions are open. Scott Kramer and Thomas Foy were the candidates. Both terms are three years.
