Fire damages Inwood house

Four fire departments responded to a fire at 17 Mervin Street in Inwood on Sept. 19, according to Anthony Rivelli Sr. of the Inwood Fire Department.

The call came in at 1:22 p.m. Firefighters found the blaze in the second floor bedroom and it also went into the attic. Rivelli said the fire was under control in 10 minutes.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, Rivelli said.

In addition to Inwood, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Hewlett and Woodmere fire departments responded.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation by the county Fire Marshal.
