Three fire departments responded to a pair of fires on May 3.

Firefighters from Inwood and Lawrence-Cedarhurst partnered on extinguishing a blaze at the Five Star Chinese restaurant at 456 Sheridan Blvd., in Inwood, at 7:40 a.m. No one was injured, according to Inwood Fire District clerk Ron Sorrentino.

Officials said the firefighters forced their way into the building, found where the smoke was and ventilated the structure, a wok left on overnight, which started the fire.

At 12:30 p.m., Inwood and Valley Stream firefighters responded to house fire at 38 Eastwood Lane in the Mill Brook section of Valley Stream behind Green Acres Mall.

After 30 minutes the fire was under control, officials said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and while there were no injuries Jason Croak, chief of the Valley Stream Fire Department said, “the house is quite unlivable at this time.”
