The Thursday into Friday snowstorm last week blanketed the Five Towns with about eight inches of snow. Hewlett-Woodmere and Lawrence school district students were already home due to the holiday break and private-school students received a day off. Some used the day to earn extra money shoveling, while others used the time to play.
