The Woodmere home of Ann DeMichael and Richard Giordanello hosted an all-you-can-eat-and-drink New York-style brunch, where Capt. Danny Gluck, commanding officer of the Five Towns Auxiliary Police was honored and the efforts of his officers recognized and officials of the Woodmere Republican Club were installed last Sunday.

Ann Salpeter Schockett, leader of the Woodmere Republican Club, said that the Auxiliary police assist the Nassau County police, patrol the local streets, guide pedestrians and help at the many community events that are held throughout the year in the Five Towns.

“A community is only as good as people who care about it,” Schockett said. “For almost all of his life, Danny Gluck, the Five Towns Auxiliary commanding officer, has been a shining example of volunteerism at the highest level.”

Along with the food and the honors there was live music, and face painting and balloon sculptures for the children.
