Arrests

HEWLETT - A verbal argument between two men escalated into an alleged assault at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Mill Road on May 7 at 1:30 p.m., police said.

Jason, Shure, 20, of Claridge Ave. in Elmont hit a 21-year-old man on the top of the head with a wrench, according to police. The man suffered a cut to his head that required medical attention. He was taken to a local hospital. What they argued about is unclear, police said.

Shure was arrested on May 9 and was charged with assault-second degree and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on May 10.

LAWRENCE – Officials said Serge Benjamin, 66, of Jamaica was arrested for shoplifting at a Rockaway Turnpike business on May 3 at 1:30 p.m.

LAWRENCE – Sharon Gonzalez, 19, of the Bronx was arrested for shoplifting at a Rockaway Turnpike business, according to authorities on May 2 at 6 p.m.

Petit larceny

CEDARHURST – A wallet was removed from an unlocked vehicle parked on Central Avenue on May 2 at 11 a.m., police said.

Criminal mischief

HEWLETT BAY PARK – According to police, three glass windows were broken in the rear of a house on Meadowview Avenue on May 3 at 10:30 p.m.
