Five Towns, Hewlett Chabads celebrate Purim

The Five Towns and Hewlett Chabads celebrated Purim with huge parties on March 17.

The Chabad of Hewlett hosted a jungle-themed party at its house in Hewlett. There were two gatherings, one at 5:30 and another at 7 p.m.

There was the traditional Megillah reading that recounts the story of Purim and how the ancient Jews overcame the villainous Haman.

Adults and children took part in wild activities and crafts, a jungle photo booth, a drum circle, safari caricatures, jungle balloon art , an exotic animal show and a lion-sized barbecue buffet.

Purim was celebrated by the Chabad of the Five Towns as its home in Cedarhurst under the big tent. Children and adults dressed in costumes ranging from Purim characters to contemporary superheroes.

There were carnival games, a festive meal supplemented by tasty treats such as cotton candy and snow cones.
