Free parking in Lawrence

A motion was approved by the Mayor and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Lawrence at a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 12, which allows for free parking during the upcoming holidays. Free parking will be available between the hours of 8 a.m. and midnight in Parking Field No. 3 (located on the north side of Central Avenue) and Parking Field No. 4 (located on the south side of Central Avenue) on Saturdays and Sundays starting on Saturday, Nov. 21, and running through Sunday, Dec. 27.

Five Towns Senior Center seeks volunteer instructors

Five Towns Senior Center is actively recruiting volunteer instructors in a wide variety of subject areas. Looking to tap into the pool of the community’s and county’s many skilled and talented residents, the center is encouraging those with an expertise and a desire to share their knowledge with an interested audience to contact the senior center.

The center provides a cross-section of offerings to meet community needs and interests. Intellectually challenging programs as well as an array of creative arts activities are among its varied programs. With current offerings ranging from music and art to archaeology and political science, the center is welcoming proposals for consideration from qualified people in all interest areas.

Partnership to help 5T families in need

Responding to the continuing financial crisis, The Eliezer Project, a not-for-profit dedicated to counseling and helping neighborhood families in need, announced that it is partnering with the JCC of the Greater Five Towns to collect and distribute non-perishable food items to those in need.
