For Mother’s Day: An appreciation of their moms

Posted

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no laws, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” — Agatha Christie

At any age in a child’s life, their mom is the one who they can always turn to. A mother takes care of you for as long as she possibly from the moment you are born into this world. She nurtures you and pushes you to become the best possible version of yourself that you can be. No matter how bad of a day you could be having, your mother is always there to save the day. Your mom will forever be your best friend, your ally, and your biggest cheerleader. Mother’s Day is Sunday, and Lawrence High School students were asked what their mom means to them.

“Personally, I cannot imagine where I would be in life without my mom. She has given me so many of both my physical and mental traits. My red hair, a passion for writing and my sense of humor have all come from her. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for pushing me to constantly challenge myself and reach for the stars. The fact that she is a teacher has always been beneficial because she understands what is like with all the pressures placed on students today. My mom has never failed to let me down and I know the best way to repay her for all that she has done is never let her down.” — Emma Balsam

“To be honest growing up with only my mom really showed me a lot. She played both parental roles and made sacrifices to make sure I would stay on the right path, whether it was her going to sleep hungry so I could have something to eat or working two extra shifts to keep a roof over my head. Had she not done these things for me, I don’t know what I’d be doing with my life. She single-handedly turned me into the man I am today, and I will be forever grateful for that.” —Kristian Cabrera

“My mom is my number one supporter. She is always there at every gymnastics competition or dance show. She knows just what to do when I’m sad or down, and what food to make when I just get back from a trip and miss home. My mom means the world to me and I will forever be thankful for her.” — Jada Rosenberg

“My mom is my best friend. Whenever I call her, she answers. Whenever I need her, she is there (even if she has to cancel her plans). My mom is my number one fan and I know she will always have my back.” —
Arie Baum
