At least 15, 5-on-5 teams (16 and up) and four 3-on-3 (30 or older) teams played basketball for several hours during the sixth annual New York NCSY (National Conference of Synagogue Youth) basketball tournament held at Lawrence High School on April 29.

The champion 3-on-3, 30 and older team sponsored by Plaza Auto leasing was comprised of Woodmere residents eremy Fine, Moshe Pilevsky, Jonathan Meyers, and Avis Esses.

Avi Winick, Ezra Beren, Dovid Jungreis, Dovid Schaulewicz, Yitzi Wieder, Rafi Berger, Meshulam Novoseller and Steve Savitsky made up the winning 5-on-5 team sponsored by Chicago Title.

Later in the day a carnival-like atmosphere was created as there was a barbecue and entertainment for children with arts & crafts, balloons and face painting. Proceeds raised by the hoops competition will benefit programs of the New York NCSY.
