SIBSPlace founder Mike Schamroth once again opened his Hewlett Harbor home to 59 children and 134 people in total for the program’s annual barbecue last Sunday.

There was an array of attractions and games for the kids, including a nine hole golf course and photo booth, along with the hamburgers and hot dogs, sno-cones, an ice cream truck, popcorn, cake and other assorted desserts.

Hewlett-based SIBSPlace (Survivorship in Brothers and Sisters) is a free after-school therapeutic program sponsored by South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. The program provides emotional and academic support to children 5-17 who have siblings with cancer or another debilitating disease or a parent with cancer.
