Golfing for LWA at the Woodmere Club

Putting practice helped the golfers warm up on a cooler than usual May day at the Lawrence Woodmere Academy outing on Monday.

Former New York Jets linebacker Greg Buttle was among the 140 golfers who played a round at the Woodmere Club as part of Lawrence Woodmere Academy’s annual golf outing on May 8. About 290 attended the dinner and more than $100,000 was raised.

This year’s co-chairs were Jay and Kristy Arnow, from Atlantic Beach, along with Michael Eigen. The Arnows’ boys, Kyle, 11, a fifth-grader; and Tyler, 7, a second-grader; attend LWA, which is also in Woodmere.

Jay, a retailer, and Kristy, have helped out with the event before. “We are lifers,” Kristy said, laughing as golfers strolled into the club’s lobby. “We are very proud and supportive of the school.”

The live auction included nine items ranging from a Yankees/Derek Jeter package with four tickets to Sunday’s game when Jeter’s No. 2 will be retired to a Bermuda golf getaway.
