Graduating from Hofstra, making the dean’s list at upstate RIT

Roughly 600 students earned their undergraduate, graduate, or law degrees at Hofstra University’s midyear commencement ceremony on Dec. 19 at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Nicholas Fodera, of Inwood, Robert Kelley, Taylor Muller, Marci Shlagbaum and Rebecca Heller, all of Cedarhurst; Jaclyn Andes and Jacqueline Pollina, of Hewlett, and Jessica Jacobs of Woodmere, are the local graduates. Fodera and Heller earned master degrees in journalism and mental health counseling, respectively. Andes, Pollina and Fodera both earned bachelor of science degrees. Kelley and Muller each earned a bachelor of business administration in finance and marketing. Rutty earned a master’s in health administration. The Rochester Institute of Technology announced its 2018 fall semester dean’s list and Woodmere resident Tom Slayin, Jason Kirshner and Saad Ahmad, both from Hewlett, earned the honor by attaining a Grade-Point Average of 3.4 or greater and taking at least 12 credit hours. Emanuel Cohen, a junior majoring in music at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester. Cohen, a graduate of Hewlett High school, lives in Lynbrook.
