Four Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway High School students, Ariana Blitstein, Matthew Nathan, Chloe Schwartz and Lexi Thall along with Rabbi Jordan Nadelbach, director of student activities, took in the Jerusalem marathon in support of Shalva on March 17.

Shalva is an organization based in Israel that provides care and aid for children with special needs and their families. Each participant spent months raising money and training to run the 10k race for this cause. The 10K race winds through the streets of Jerusalem. Before the 10K, about 600 runners for Team Shalva ran an 800-meter community run alongside the Shalva children and their families.

Nadelbach described the trip as, “An incredible experience for all those who participated. They had the unique opportunity to see what Shalva does first hand, as well as to meet Shalva members and children.”
