Fire and ice combined to be a part of the Chabad of Hewlett’s annual Hanukkah on Ice celebration at Grant Park, also in Hewlett, on Dec. 8, that included ice skating and menorah necklaces were distributed.
Two days after Chabad lit the community menorah at the Triangle in Hewlett, a menorah fashioned out of ice was also lit to commemorate the eight-day Festival of Lights that celebrates the ancient Hebrews Maccabee-led military victory over the Syrian-Greeks and the miracle of one day’s supply of oil lasting eight days for the rededication of the Second Holy Temple.
