Hanukkah on Ice in Hewlett was very nice

The Chabad of Hewlett’s annual Hanukkah on Ice at Grant Park in Hewlett on Dec. 1, the fourth night of the eight-day Jewish holiday, included the sculpted ice menorah that was five-feet tall, a fire show, dancing, a wax candle factory, decorate your own donut, coloring and raffles and prizes.

Unfortunately there was no ice skating as the rink endured a system failure, officials said, but there were also hot latkes.

Hanukkah, also called the Festival of Lights, celebrates the victorious Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE, the taking back of Jerusalem, the rededication of the Second Temple and the miracle of a small amount of oil lasting eight days.
