Hewlett resident David Izgelov, a Barry Tech High School student, went to Albany on Feb. 26 and advocated for increased funding for Nassau BOCES, as he met with  State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, a Democrat who represents the Five Towns, and State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, another Democrat, who represents a portion of the Five Towns, including Hewlett.

Barry Tech, which is a part of Nassau BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services) is a career and technical education high school that offers more than 40 hands-on courses designed to help students develop the skills they need to get a step ahead in their chosen career fields. Classes are taught in a state-of-the-art facility simulating real-world work environments that meet current industry standards.
