The precipitation was wet not white, however the Christmas spirit was in the air at the annual Hewlett-Woodmere holiday tree lighting at Hewlett Veterans Plaza at the intersection of Broadway and West Broadway in Hewlett on Dec. 3.
As the countdown to the big day continues, Five Towns residents jumped into the season with candy canes, cookies and singing from the Hewlett High School Chorale.
Community groups such as the Hewlett-Woodmere Business Association, the Hewlett Fire Department and the 4th Precinct auxiliary police all played a role in coordinating the Sunday event.
