Not only was last Monday, Memorial Day, a time for parades and barbecues, but the Hewlett-Woodmere Little League held its annual hone run derby and All-Star games at Grant Park.
The day began at 12:30 p.m. with the fourth and fifth grade-level home run derby-hitting contest and about an hour late the same players took part in their All-Star game. At 4 p.m. the sixth and seventh graders teed off for the fences and 60 minutes later they had their All-Star game.
