Two of the 45 firefighters that fought a morning house fire on Oakland Avenue in Cedarhurst on July 17 suffered heat exhaustion, officials said.

At 10:27 a.m., the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department received a call about the fire that was said to have begun in the attic of a home off of Peninsula Boulevard, said LCFD First Assistant Chief John McHugh.

In approximately 30 minutes the fire was under control and the two firefighters were treated at the scene. There were no other injuries.

McHugh said that a company was performing air conditioning work in the house at the time of the fire, but it is being considered accidental.

In addition to Lawrence-Cedarhurst, the Hewlett, Inwood, Meadowmere and Woodmere fire departments fought the blaze. The Valley Stream Fire Department provided one of the three ambulances that were on the scene.
