An Inwood man was arrested on March 30 for allegedly robbing and assaulting a 14-year old Lawrence High School student a day earlier, police said.

Christopher Johnson, 17, an Alvin Place resident, approached the boy who was walking home on Reilly Road in Cedarhurst after leaving school for the day at 2:45 p.m., according to police.

Johnson threatened violence if the boy didn’t empty his pockets. The victim tried to runaway, but Johnson allegedly pushed him to the ground, police said.

Then Johnson attempted to remove the boy’s Iphone from his pocket and during the ensuing struggle Johnson bit him on the upper right arm, breaking skin and causing bleeding, according to police. Johnson then fled on foot with the phone.

The boy’s injury was treated at a local hospital. Following the investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Johnson surrendered at the 4th Precinct on Wednesday and was arrested.

He is charged with robbery-second degree and assault-second degree and is expected to be arraigned on March 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
