Fair Kiwanis hands out college scholarships

Peninsula Kiwanis presented students from Hewlett and Lawrence high schools with scholarship money and a plaque. Eight Hewlett and Lawrence High School seniors and their families were feted by Peninsula Kiwanis at the charitable organization’s annual scholarship awards night dinner at SaVino’s in Lynbrook on June 14.
From Hewlett High, Shainee Islam, Wyatt McMahon and twins Andrew Pareles and Matthew Pareles received a plaque and $500 each. From Lawrence, Carlos Alas, Joel Blanco, Emilio Gonzalez and Markus Maldonado were the scholarship winners. The awards are in acknowledgement of their scholastic excellence and service to the community.
