A motorist lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole and then a tree at the intersection of Broadway and Cooperbeach Lane in Lawrence as he headed east on Broadway at 7:45 a.m. on March 4, according to Nassau County police and Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department officials, who responded to the scene.

The driver, who was operating a late model BMW, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Sunday morning collision resulted in the utility being snapped in half. The Long Island Power Authority repaired the pole and the damaged wires.
