A town hall meeting to discuss the plan and where residents questions are expected to be answered will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m.at Lawrence Middle School at 195 Broadway in Lawrence.
The plan which is using the concepts of the Princeton Plan, which assigns students to schools based on grade levels rather than geography.
Lawrence's plan includes closing the Number Five School and having all the district's third- and fourth-graders move to the middle school. At the middle school, third through fifth grades would make up a new lower school, while sixth through eighth would be the upper school. The middle school would be renamed.
The Number Two School would house the first- and second-graders Pre-kindergartners and kindergatners would continue to attend the Number Four School. Plans also include a renovation of the main office in the high school, where central office administrators will al be housed.
