Firefighters from the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department rescued a 30-year-old construction, who hurt his back, while working on the third floor of a building at 260 Central Ave. in Lawrence on July 6.

Found in the back of the building, the man was lifted into what is called a “stokes litter” a basket-type contraption and lowered by a tower ladder truck and was taken LCFD ambulance to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment.

“He was in a dangerous area where there was no railings,’ said LCFD 1st Assistant Chief John McHugh. “It was a precarious situation.”
