The Woodmere Fire Department opened the doors to its firehouse at 20 Irving Place in Woodmere for Fire Prevention Day on Oct. 15.
Through the four-hour event, children of all ages were allowed to try on firefighter gear, get on the trucks and check out the ambulance. They also learned how a fire is extinguished, and what other tools the volunteer first responders use during emergencies. There was also food and prizes.
