Long Beach man arrested for Atlantic Beach robbery

Fourth Squad detectives arrested Walter Fryer, 35, of East Pine Street, in Long Beach, on Oct. 25 at 4:40 p.m. for the alleged robbery of an Atlantic Beach residence.

Fryer illegally entered the house and was found inside when the 67-year-old woman resident returned home, police said. He tried to hold her in the house, however she managed to get outside and fled to the safety of her vehicle and notified the police, according to authorities.

Police found Fryer in the house and arrested him. There were no injuries. He was charged with burglary-second degree and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 26.
