Enjoy music under the stars when the Long Island Philharmonic, under the baton of David Stewart Wiley, performs at Heckscher State Park, Saturday, July 17, at 8 p.m.

Maestro Wiley, music director and conductor, leads the orchestra in a program of American ˆclassics including selections from “West Side Story”, Victory at Sea, Satchmo! A Tribute to Louis Armstrong, 76 Trombones from “The Music Man”, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, as well as works from Long Island composers Billy Joel, George M. Cohan, Reynard Burns, Morton Gould, and others. Following the concert’s rousing finale, a magical display of fireworks will light up the night sky.

As always, concertgoers are urged to arrive early to this popular event. Many visitors bring family and friends for picnicking throughout the day. Everyone is urged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to Long Island Cares. Admission is free. There is a $10 vehicle use fee in effect until 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. a $10 donation is requested.
