Man pulled from water in Inwood is identifed

The man pulled from the water by Nassau police in Inwood on April 9 was identified as William Braxton, 83, of 173rd Street in Queens.

Braxton was reported missing to the 113th Precinct in Queens on April 5. He suffered from dementia, New York City police said.

Police received a call at 9:20 a.m. on that Thursday and responded to a site near Doughty Boulevard and Burnside Avenue at 30 Inip Drive. Braxton was officially declared dead by the county medical examiner at 3 p.m. on April 9.
