Man robbed at gunpoint in Cedarhurst

A man allegedly attacked and robbed a young man on June 28, at 12:35 a.m., in Cedarhurst, police said.

The 18-year-old man was walking home on Washington Avenue when the alleged attacker jumped on the young man’s back, which caused him to fall to the ground, according to police.

The man displayed a dark-colored hand gun and removed an undetermined amount of money and a cell phone from the young man’s pockets, before fleeing by foot east on Oak Avenue, police said. No injuries were reported.

The alleged thief is described as black, 6-feet tall, with a slim build, wearing white tank top, dark pants, and a dark mask.

Arrests

NORTH WOODMERE – Carl L. Piro Jr., 36, of Malverne and David Vega, 30, of Hempstead, were arrested for shoplifting at a home improvement store on Rockaway Turnpike at 12:45 p.m. on June 15, according to police.

HEWLETT – John D. Jordan, 56, of Far Rockaway, was arrested for shoplifting from a clothing store on Broadway at 4 p.m. on June 18, police said.

Petit larceny

INWOOD – Assorted items were taken from the glove compartment of a vehicle parked on Inip Drive at 1 a.m. on June 15, authorities said.

INWOOD – Between 5:30 p.m. on June 16 and 1 p.m. on June 17, tools were stolen from a vehicle parked on Bayswater Boulevard, officials said.

LAWRENCE – A screen door of a residence on Cumberland Place was damaged and a guitar was removed between 6 p.m. on June 17 and 2:30 p.m. on June 18, according to police.

Criminal mischief

HEWLETT – The front passenger window of a vehicle parked on Fiesta Court was damaged between 11 p.m. on June 14 and 7:15 a.m. on June 15, police said.
